looking at a 01 e55
Hey everyone, Im a amg owner & enthusiast. I moved to florida but due to business I'm going to start frequently going back home to chicago.
I decided to keep a car there, and came across a 2001 e55. It has 155k miles and some small rust areas, usual front fender & door area. Car seems to be in good mechanical condition. Is there anything specific i should keep an eye out for apart from the normal stuff, like anything related to the w210 or the e55? I will probably drive 2k miles per year and it will sit for weeks at a time. According to the owner, rust seems to be the only issue. He is asking $4800 but id be comfortable if it was under 4k.

Seems like a fair deal and its a lot of car for the money.
As far as the transmission goes I would just start a regular service schedule once you buy it. My trans has 230k plus and it shift just as well as it did when it had 50k. I drain the pan and add 4 quarts every 6months. I change the filter every 100k and I change the connector at the same time.
