transmission 5th gear problem

transmission 5th gear problem
Yesterday on my drive home i noticed my car wont shift into 5th.
I also noticed it will shift 5th if i do it manually. Im thinking it electrical since it works manually.
Im assuming there must be a switch of some sort but if somebody can point me in the right direction it will be much appreciated Thanks

Tried a few different things on the way to work.
If i drive with very light gas pedal pressure it shifts into 5th and stays there until 55-58mph then down shifts.
While driving down the highway i decided to flip the switch to winter mode and instantly it shifts to 5th. I did a few 60mph-120mph pulls with it in winter mode and it works perfect.
Now im 100% sure the transmission in good just need to figure out were the electrical problem is. I changed the electrical connector a few years ago so i might start there. Also i drop my tranny fluid and add 4 quarts every 6months so i know the fluid is perfect.
If anybody know the electrical side of the W/S switch and could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Have you tried doing a transmission adaptation reset? It's a long shot, but might be worth a try if it isn't a mechanical problem.
Turn off all accessories, lights, etc.
Insert key and turn to "On" without starting the engine
Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it for 30 seconds.
Leave the key in position 2 for 2 minutes and don't open the door or turn on any accessories.

The car no longer has this issue. I had the spare on the left front for a few days while I was having the wheel refinished and after putting the mono block back on all is good.
