How many miles did your 210 have when it had issues and how many on your 211E? My 210 had some issues at 195k miles. Had new tranny put in, suspension ball joints and control arms, cam cover gaskets, and intake rubber bits, and the interior refreshed. It's like having a new car again. I brought the 210 E55 out of retirement since my SL is not a good daily driver due to the small cabin size and I'm driving a lot now.

I have own my 06 E55 for almost 9 years and it's very reliable. The only repair I did was water pump, engine mounts, control arm and Coil-over swap. I have CLS55 for 3 years, I have only oil change, Air filter change, tires swap.
My previous W210 ==> Brake switch, control arm, ball joint, AC compressor, Fan clutch, transmission fail, Second Cat fail, secondary air injection, engine mount, transm mount ... It's just OLD and they just fail. Don't tell me W210 is more reliable because it's about the same.
The reason I still have my W211 E55 because it's been very reliable. The most money I spent was header, tune, pulley, wheels, tires, brakes, E63 bumper, CF diff... Performance wise no comparison between W211 and W210. Also W211 handle and brake better. This is my last 9 years of experience with multiple E55.

Theres no way an 06 e55 which is way over engineered is more reliable than a w210 e55.
You just wait till your w211 starts breaking. You will have one hell of a time.
I guess an 06 is more solid than a first year w211 but still.

Dude, I have my W211 for 9 years and W219 CLS55 too. I still own them both today. You don't even have one how do you know ? by the time my W211 start to fail, W210 will have more problems and If you are in East coast, you will see most of W210 has rust problem. I love W210 that's why I had few one in the past 6 years but it's just getting old.

Exactly, its getting old.
W211 is gonna be getting old at some point and itll have same plus tons of other problems in areas that a w210 doesn't even have which make the w211 less reliable.
Again, why do I have to have one to know whats less reliable?
I know lotus Esprit are some of the least reliable cars there are and so are rotary rx7s but I never had either of the two.

A friend of mine said the same thing to me before I bought it.
I figured I'd be into it $20k when I'm all done initially and another $5k within a couple years as old cars need things.
I'm quite amazed you've kept your e55 so long and with so many miles. At what point did it become a part time driver, or a is it still a daily?

Im just about done going threw all the suspension and drivetrain. I figure it will be good for another 200k 👍 It going to get painted this winter then it will be my daily driver again. It's been a year since I've driven it.

Car has been arrived and delivered to the service center for recon.
cosmetics on interior, exterior and under the hood are amazing. I really cannot believe the condition. It’s like new at 17 years old.
i do kind of feel like I need to keep it as a time capsule-ish car, even if it’s not a fast appreciating collectormobile. There cannot be too many of these around nationwide.

Wow! revisiting...Things sure have change in just a few years. I still have it with similar miles. Hard to drive it when values are moving up and up.

Yeah time changed , for 15k miles the car would be at least 40k range or above on BAT. Old car values are going up.
I got my 99 E55 with 35k miles for 27k just a month ago and doing maintence on it and has been parked ever since. Like wise it's hard to drive these cars now a days racking up miles but I will occasionally take it out on a weekend ride or spin.

Yes, I agree. I’ve done the annual oil service and rather not rack up the miles. I bought a e63 2010 to drive in its place and find that one going even higher...(22k miles). Bat declined to auction my car unless I put a 36k reserve.

Your E55 is way beyond the 36k reserve , no worries there at all. My guess your car is worth at least 45K+ assuming clean car fax and nothing mechanically wrong. The longer you keep it the higher it will go!

Yes, I agree, and plan to keep it a bit longer. My friends that laughed at me when told them 100k within 10 years of when I bought it are no longer laughing at me. I just thought to try and take less now since I’m loosing my secondary garage space...
