I'm shopping around for another W210 E55 & loved having the ventilated seats. Yeah, they're not full blown a/c seats, but with a fan upgrade they get the job done.

Anyways, my question is, was the 2002 the only year that got the ventilated seats?

i been around 99 2000 and 2001 never seen them have vented seats so id say it was a 02 option/ most likely a special order option

I have a 2001 E55 and mine has ventilated seats.

I had a Canadian 2002 with no ventilated seats - produced by the end of 2001. I think it was optional, same as NAV at that time.

How hard would it be to add some fans under the seat? Do the ventilated seats have a different heating element so the air can blow through?

I don't know if there's any difference, but I do know people will replace the stock fans with much stronger ones. I kind of want to do that on my E63 as you don't even notice it when they're on.

I'd guess that all of the seats are set up for having the fans.

My old 2001 E55 did not have ventilated seats. Just heated.
