brake light switch
I just replaced brake light switch with new one on a 2009 C300, after driving a few blocks the ESP/ABS came on and so did brake lights. Replaced with old one, same thing brake lights stay on and same warning on cluster. Unplugged the switch and brake lights work perfectly, except ESP/ABS indicator on.
Why does brake light working properly without switch? Is there an ajustment when replacing switch?

did you try turning steering wheel Left to Right from end to end a few times?
try that a few times and see if lights go out then drive your car your turning steering wheel sharp?
otherwise you have to reset codes

I haven't tried that but did read things saying to do that. Will try it and then write back on this forum to give feedback.
Well appreiciated for fast reply, thanks.

W204 brake switch
Hello again, have tried installing new brake switch again. Erased all ESP codes, then started car and turned sterring wheel left and right to max a few times, light was off. Then went for a drive and when applying brake the lights come on, which is ok. Then let go brake pedal and lights stay on. I pulled back the brake pedal higher and lights go off. Then press brake lights go on and stay. Seems I have to pull back brake pedal far enough so to have lights go off. There must be an ajustement for distance of brake switch to brake pedal contact. Tried with old switch and same thing. Is there any shim we have to place in between pedal and switch to adjust at beginning? Running now without the brake switch and brake light work fine. Yet still have ESP innactive and the ABS works fine also.
Thank you in advance if you think of something else that could cause that.

did you buy an original part or a shoddy aftermarket part?
an aftermarket part could be defective from new if you are unlucky as you don't know the quality of the part?
if you plug it in, and rapidly turn steering wheel left to right a few times ESP/ABS lights should turn off in cluster and you're good to go.
contact sensor from your brake system should touch pinhead on brake light switch triggering brake lights then go off ASAP when brake pedal is released
