imported a E55T from japan
just imported this japan spec left hand drive e55t to canada. had it for about a month. done some tune up . new rubber. had it inspected and insured . its got some unusual features and trims that are not found in north american spec cars. the interior wood trims are unique. shifter and ash tray door has AMG logo. the door trim panel has wood grab handle instead of leather. dash display only has option of English and Japanese.and the clock runs on satellite signal so i cant even set the time. lol. i'll see if i can turn that off with star as the car doesnt have the original comand unit to turn off the satellite clock. im not to familiar with mercedes at all. in fact this is my first merc and ive been doing tons of research for last little while. i always love these amg wagons, i was looking at some 320s locally but for the same price of a 320T i was able to buy this 55T from japan so i went for it . got some c55 brakes for it as they are better looking and didnt want to pay 250 for just one replacement rotor. gonna need some wheel spacers to clear the monoblocks. the drive shaft center bearing needs to be replace plus bunch of other small stuff. and the evap core for the AC. not looking toward that job.

Evap core isn't all that bad of a job. Nice pick. You should post some interior pics to make us event more jealous.

the T is getting rare even in japan. i remember looking at these last year around this time and they were plenty on auction sites. you can get one landed for around 8000-10000 Canadian. but supplies really drying up and they are becoming collectibles. . my buddy imports japanese car from auction or wholesale . he saw this and hooked me up. helped me with the importing and i just followed his instructions wiring the money to japan then pay a brokerage firm to deal with customs with tax and duty . isnt too bad in canada to import a car from japan.

sweet ride Rustspot.
Love these top model MB imports from Japan. They never do over 90km/hr on their roadways. Other than the possible issue of the humidity and sun beating on the dashboards (causing them to crack if not garage stored), they are good to go.
A sweet deal importing a top of the line model for a bargain vs. buying a run of the mill model locally or one from the stealerships.

Car looks great, I recently sold my '99 E55T AMG I imported from Japan, it was a really fun car!
I still have some stuff left over from it if you're looking for anything:
JTC 1714 Fan Clutch Pulley Holder
JTC 1702 36mm
38-pin adapter for use with OBD2 scanners
MB STAR DAS C3 Multiplexor and Dell Laptop
Power steering/rear suspension filter and fluid
Mann Fleece oil filters for extended interval
I have FS ads posted if you want more details on anything.
