I saved one a few months ago, put a few hundred into it but am thinking about selling. I love the car, but I just dont need the spare care right now.
It has just about 200,000 miles on it, some rust on the quarter panels but no where else. Runs great. Interior is mostly great, other then it being a older car obviously.
Just curious what people think they can get for these cars. There doesnt seemto be a huge market for them, but there also doesnt seem to be a lot of them out there.
Interesting, the cheapest pre-facelift car on Autotrader was $6,995. The post facelift cars were being offered for less with one at $3,400. I guess it really just depends on what you can get with these since they are rare and the pre-facelift cars are even rarer. There are less than a few hundred early E55's imported to the states. I believe the '99 only had 200 imported to the US.
edit: My local CL has 3 facelift ones that aren't that nice with higher miles with asking prices of $3500-$5000. I wouldn't consider buying any of them if I was in the market.
FWIW, I've owned one of these that needed a bunch of maintenance. It wasn't a good choice.
If you can't find a buyer , you may get the decent bang for you buck by parting it out. Monoblocks ~$800-$1000, pre-facelift steering wheel ~$250+, seats/interior panels ~$500+, interior birdseye maple trim $$$ (people will pay good money for these as they're near impossible to find)... i'll even make you an offer in they're in decent condition.
