Guys lost my smart key and need to remove EIS to get a duplicate made , I have the kick removed but there is a black bar? any ideas on easy removal other than removing the dash?

When I replaced my evap, I had to disconnect the key portion of the EIS during the process, There are 3 or 4 connectors that go into the back and they are different types and sizes- one leads to the gear shift module.

There is a tool that frees the ring to be able remove the EIS which could help but I still don't see a way aside from the dash being free to allow space to get The EIS out. My hands and arms could not bend that way

If the EIS is connected to the ring it is connected to the dash and you are trying to disconnect the wires blindly which was difficult and took the longest part for me on the way to my evaporator.

I feel that you have to free the dash to allow proper space either way and you might have to remove the steering wheel as well. That was my experience but maybe someone else knows a better way.

An alternative could be to tow the car to the dealer so they can settle the key issue without this heavy labor. Call them and ask.
