SLK/C55 Front Brake Swap Worth It?
Been doing a lot of reading and brakes are next on the to-do list..Penciling it out, cost isn't terribly different going to standard C55 stuff in front. The C55 stuff seems to have cheaper long term viability, and sounds easier (in theory) to change pads for an auto-x/track day. Most of the threads seem to be non-AMG cars, and sure, if you have a non AMG car I bet it's a huge upgrade. At least one guy also said it's dumb/worse.
What about a good set of rotors and proper pads on the stock brake setup? If you've done this swap, how do they compare, are the aluminum 4-piston calipers and 345x30 rotors worth it?
Not interested in going to 19's, 6 pistons, or any of the other true BBK options right now.
I can't tell if it's modding just for the sake of modding, because the stock W210 AMG rotors are already badass IMO and the car stops good for what they are; not sold on floating calipers though. All the vehicles that brake the way I like have fixed calipers...

This is why I have not rushed to upgrade my front calipers. I have C55 calipers that I ran on my old car but I don't plan to install them until my stock rotors/pads wear out.
