Definitely an improvement. I have used the 3M with great results but it does revert back to yellow-ish usually within a year. The missing step is the sealing to make this last longer otherwise youll be constantly sanding the lens down.
Here is a great one by Youtube channel Paint Society incorporating clear coat

)- Clean the headlights
)- Masked the surrounding area
)- Using a sanding block and a 600/800 , dry side to side by hand
)- Turn the headlights on to see if there are any spots that needed further sanding
)- Sanding again 1500 grit ... wet this time and vertical movements
)- Lights on to see the progress
)- Sanding again. 2500/3000 grit... wet and vertical
)- Light on and if happy with the progress move to next step
- Alcohol wipes and clean the headlights before moving on to polishing
)- Using Random orbital buffer, applied Maguire's Ultimatum compound
)- wiped using alcohol wipe
)- Finally Maguire's Ultimatum Polish
I have read using a clear coat will cause bit refracting errors and to make it last longer, to use a clear Film like 3M and that's what i plan on ordering
