Help!! Hood latch will not release.

I need help!! My passenger side front hood latch will not release. The cable got loose on the passenger side and now, I can't open the latch on that side. Can someone give me a solution to the problem on how to unhook the latch. The driver's side is fine. I don't understand why MB make two independent latch for the hood. It's definitely over engineered. Who in the world would want to open the hood and steal the engine .LOL.

There's a hole behind the headlight,

you can jack the car, pull out the Engine shield, and use a long plier to catch the cable through that hole..

Do you know a 24" screwdriver will do the trick?

Can use elbow screwdriver to pull the cable little bit down, then catch it,,

or simply, long nose pliers will do the job as well..

I don't think a set of pliers has the strength to pull from such a long distance from below. Also, I don't think I can reach the cable with pliers from below the car. It's at least 2 ft straight up.
