2000 E55 AMG W210 Differential / Drivability Concern

Hello All!

After searching I cannot find enough information so it has led me here!

My father passed down a 2000 E55 AMG to my brother and something broke in the drivetrain after 3 months. Car has 130k miles on it and I’m not aware of previous ownership before my dad but he drove the hell out of this thing.

When the vehicle is in drive, reverse or any other gear, the driveshaft will spin but not the rear end.

The rubber discs are all good, all bolts intact, axles not leaking, transmission goes through all gears, but rear end doesn’t move.

I ended up removing the diff carrier asay and removed diff cover. The pinion and ring gear all look good.

what could this issue be? Are there clutches in this diff that maybe they are burnt? I cannot find any info on a W210 E55 AMG.

thanks for any input!

If you rotate the input shaft, do the gears rotate inside?

I'm guessing there is a piece of metal tooth between the gears.
