I'm heading here in April. You get one mile before you have to shut down. Anyone know how fast the E can go in 1 mile?

Derek,
I looked at taking my SL65 out there as well. I talked to them about their roll cage requirement and they said that the roll-bar in my SL was not good enough. They said I would be banned from going more than 150.
They can't stop you from going faster but I would be tossed if I went over the 150 limit.
Would hate to drive over there and only get one 186 MPH run.....
I told them the need to re-think their rules if my car in stock form is not considered safe enough. Mercedes thinks it is safe enough for us to drive in uncontrolled settings on the autobahn at up to 186.......

The convertible was not the issue. They said any car running over 150 had to have a roll cage..... No exceptions.
It would be great to see an AMG post better times than a bunch of roll cage prepped race cars!

2002 MB E55 AMG
There's a video clip in the archives here of pocholin (w210) doing the Texas Mile. I think his top speed (in the 150 mph class) was 149.75 or so.

2005 Kleemann Stage 3 E55
Check it out: http://motortrend.com/features/scen...est/index1.html
quick summary: several cars tested acheived 90% of their top speed max after 1 mile. This would suggest that a car capable of 200 (let's call it 190) could be at 171 after 1 mile.
If you look at the CL55 numbers in the article you'll see that this car hit 88% of it's tested top speed max of 187. 88% of 187 is 164 after 1 mile. I should think that a modified 100 extra hp could push to 171 (90% of 190) in 1 mile. There has to be a longer place to go to test let the car push and still have time to shut down.
