The E65 is coming!!

In case you all did not know it by now, The next E class AMG will be the E65 with the same motor set up as the CL,SL and S55 twin turbo charged V12.

Please do not make me say... I told you so!!!!!

The only concern I have is the handling especially, with a heavier V12 motor.

Without hijacking this thread any further there have been several threads on the subject, and the e63 NA 6.3L V8 makes far more sense

The fact that the comments so far are mostly about the looks of the car (which I liked better than I expected) tells me I'm on the right track.

noone will deny the ability of the m5 to perform. Im sure it will outcorner the e55 any day. Straight line acceleration, it probably wont reach the e55 but fun-factor will be there. I personally dont like the interior..something you look at the entire time you are driving, AND I would never buy a first year bmw model. Im not around to to spend 90 grand on a car and then be the one finding the bugs for the entire run of the model.

A lot of interesting pros and cons re: new M5 but it seems none of you have gotten hold of the real problem here. As a 30 year driver of BMW's I have a lot of history with the cars. It is a well known fact that first year new motors on BMW's are a major problem. Their first V8 was a problem. Silent recall on them all. Many motors were replaced. The first V12 was a major piece of crap that had a lot of people tearing their hair out. The M3's motor has been a big problem with wholesale replacements. NOW they have a new V10. I'm not kidding when I say I wouldn't take it for free.......if it was my sole means of transportation. Anyone who buys this V10 the first year of production is doing so at great risk and without any idea of the history behind BMW's new motors.

You wish.

The 1st delivery will not occur at least until october. The demo car will be at your dealers just after labor day.

I am expecting delivery in jan 06. Although I am getting cold feet on getting the 1st batch. I have another slot is is probably up for the 1st batch of 2007. But i will need to keep the 2nd slot as there might be a 6 speed manual by that time.

I will take a test drive on the new SMG and decide if i want to sell my 1st slot.

If you are a BMW histroian, then you are wrong with your information.

The E46 M3's straight 6 is not new. It's an updated version of the E36 3.2 Euro motor. BMW has problem with certain batch of the motor with connecting rod issues (cars effected were 2nd year model in US- 2002).

The 2001 engine were fine.

I do however, will agree that owning a 1st year BMW is a scary proposition. But then again, it would be just like owning any exotic car with high output V10.

Wow, you got me. I can't believe that I said the first of fall which is "officially" September 23rd. I should be for being 7 days off from your prediction.

It depends what you mean by updated, if you mean that an engine with 80% of the components are different then you are correct. Some parts are carried over but not as much as you lead us to believe!

Hmmm, an E65. Kleemann has tuning for the v12 pushing it to 730bhp and 1300Nm torque. Imagine all that(plus LSD) in an E!
There's already a 2005 S65.

Guys, the 65 engine is built at the the AMG factory alongside the SLR engine. The price of the engine alone is more than the price of an ENTIRE E55. Look at the price difference between an SL55 & SL65.

DO you honestly expect them to put that engine into the next E65? The price of the E55 would double. After all its not cheap to make an engine with that kind of power.

Anyway, it's been confirmed the E63 will replace the E55 with the same engine thaqt goes into the ML63:

I've now firmed up the M5 delivery date for July, which is early enough for me. I've enjoyed the C32 and I'm sure I'll be back for an AMG in the future. Thanks for the input, guys.

Where do you get the info stated above because I highly doubt this claim.

According to recent reports, the S 65 is going to be sold at about USD170k brand new. How much is the 2005 E55 AMG going for in the States at the moment(brand new)?

Disappointing, I was seriously hoping to delay my gratification and wait another few years to get the E65AMG, then ask Kleemann for their tuning solution = 730bhp and 1300Nm in a luxury 4 door. . Ah well, it just may have to be an S 65

No, I said it clearly that it will not occur at least until october, yes that is 7 days away.

BMW is having issues with the new M5. That's why delivery in europe has not begun (already 2 weeks late with build car piled up).

Your car even being the 1st on the allocated slot, will be almost impossible to hit in early october, let alone 9/23/05.

I am just spreading the information as i have it. If your dealer can pull a god's micracle and get you a car on 9/23/05 or in one week of that time, all hats off to the dealer.

I am just stating that you wish the dealer can pull it off. From what I have heard and seen thus far, I don't believe BMW will even hold the october date given that they can't even ship the european car out of the door yet.

the new M5 will be a highway monster.
to all the people complaining about no v12 E class- why don't you just get an S600? what big advantage does the E have over the S?

I think you will be hearing more of that once it hits the street.

probably a lot more. BMW still have not yet totally resolved software issues on the E60. The electronics on the M5 is even more complicated, plus the totally new engine. As days goes by, the new RS6 looks more attractive to buy 1st then the M5. M5 will still be the best car in this class. But the 1st several years, those owners will suffer.
