OK this has been discussed beyond exhaustion before. The only advantage the new M5 has over the E55 is its bigger engine, and better handling. The E55 will kick the M5's *** in a straight line and it is far more comfortable and pleasing to the eyes than the new styling of the M5. Besides who wants a 400hp car?? I sure as hell dont.
Get lost you troll.

THANKS...

Out Of Control!!
So, Mr. Gabri343 is from Italy, drives a BMW, can't afford a domestic car, and has to resort to stirring up trouble on a Mercedes forum. There must be something severely wrong with that boy.

the M5 uses a smaller engine, the M5 is a 5.0 liter compared to the E55s 5.4 liter. Also i highly doubt a E55 will "kick" a M5s *** in a straightline, especially uptop. in the 1/4 mile id say drivers race, from a roll though, the M5s Horsepower should be more than enough to win the race. Also the 0-400 meters is the 1/4 mile time, and that says 12.67 seconds.

really who cares,
1. the car is ugly
2. it COMES out in another half a year
3. i'm sure its gonna be little bit faster,it would be shame if it weren't after all that time they were working on it.
4. lets wait for the e63
5. we have room for SOME tuning, would m5?

Be careful guys, you're talking to a Ferrari test driver!
What a freakin' moron and a disgrace to the entire population of Italy.
Where one troll lurks, another isn't far behind. Just wait, you'll see some more trolls posting on this topic before it's over.

Gentile Signore Gabri,
Mi dispiace ma il suo "post" sopra non e' giusto. Dov'e hai trovato la sua informazione? Semplicemente, i dati sull' E55 (che abbiamo bisogno a paragonare a il M5) non sono incluso. Hai questi dati? Per piacere, provvedi questi dati a noi.
Distinti saluti,
Marc

there hasnt been any comparo ive seen that shows the e55 losing to 60 or 1/4 mile. if 0-1000m is a big deal in italy and your car happens to be faster there than good for you but in the good ol' usa its 0-60 and 1/4 mile. plus with the relatively cheap mods we can do to our cars to get close to 600hp, 7k, lowering links, $250 and a decent set of rubber id take on an m5 on any track.

Basically, I asked him to provide the data by which he compared the M5 to the E55. In the upper right-hand corner of the link he provided, the translation is roughly as follows:
"507 hp, even though attached to a weight a little greater than 1,800 kgs, assures acceleration that is unmatched by the competition: the M5 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (~0-62 mi/h) in 4.68 seconds to reach the 1 km finish line in 22.77 seconds, while the Mercedes E55 takes 5.4 seconds and 23.43 in the same tests."
Obviously, there's a disconnect somewhere. I don't know what kind of E55 they used in the test, but all the tests on the E55 I've seen have sub-5 second acceleration numbers. I just wanted to see the supporting data on this.

Even for a 0-100 km/h...5.4 is an extremely conservative number. A quick google search of 0-100 km/h numbers for the E appear to be somewhere between 4.5-4.8 seconds.

OK, I'm going to play devil's advocate here & hope you don't shoot me for doing so. Autocar UK also got something like 5.0 & 13.1 for the E55. Reason being the Euro mags tend to test "real world" conditions. For starters their standard testing procedure includes a full tank of gas & 2 people in the car. The driver & a guy to handle the V-box GPS equipment. That should add a serious chunk to the times.
Then they run pump fuel with normal tyre pressure & no cooling of the engine. Also, the strips they use tend to be airfields with no preparation. The Autocar strip tends to get quite dusty so traction is not good. Some of the mags evenn do 5 runs & publish the average of them. So If I were you I wouldn't compare Euro tests to what an owner can run at the strip. I would guess there could be a full second between the 2. The only valid comparison is if the same mag tested both cars, but even then it would have to be on the same day, same surface, etc to be really valid.

yes we all know. Who ever criticize the god's creation, the all mighty E55 is a troll and needs to go to hell.
It still amazes me that majority of owners here would be so worked over a car. I guss it must be painful for anyone to criticize the car that majority here treated as extention of its most private body part.

Even if all magazine tested M5 to be faster than E55, all will claim that its fake/doctored/reverse (that is new).
Like i have said, you can't criticize god's creation on this forum.

hey krispy i can see you have an m5 on order and are obviously getting out of the e55. but why the tone man??? i for one dont think like what you say, and i dont think many others here do too. it's like when i had my c32 and autocar had an 0-60 of 4.4sec which was universally regarded as junk. it jsut seems the euro mags are all over the place so if the us mags are hooking up the track etc to make all things as static as possible then it would seem logical that this would be true apples to apples comparos. and someone who does it the classless way he did speaks volumes. come here and say i read a mag....0-60 for e55 in 5.4.....are you guys seeing these #'s....doesnt seem possible.....cant wait for my new m5.......see you on the streets! but when you act like a douche you get responded to in kind.
now everyone, PRAISE GOD BE THE E55!
