Repainting my 01

Only 20K on this guy and in excellent shape......but on Wednesday it was about a hundred feet from a mini-twister .......got pelted with debris.....and now, most panels have paint chips & dings.

Through the yrs.....I've had alot of panals & mods painted on other cars.......never been involved in project of this scope........any tips welcome, appreciated.

If the bodyshop does a quality job, it will look new to *ALMOST* anyone who looks at it. The trained eye will always be able to tell.

Show up unannounced to some of the higher end body shops in your area and ask to see the cars they have just completed. Look over them with a fine tooth comb and see what you think. I'd also only consider shops that specialize in higher end cars like MBZ, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, ... Don't take it to your local Pontiac dealer.

Too bad, since not even the best can match the conditions in a MBZ factory.

Thanks..........I do believe I have a good shop.....used em for yrs, they know I'm critical (I think they say **** over there ).......anyway, I often run over to see panals before they re-assemble to approve/re-shoot /etc...........it's just that I've never handed them this big a job but I guess it's really not alot different.

Gregg,

If you are looking for a body shop you don't have to worry about rechecking the panels for and being called **** (you are called **** because no one else is as picky as you, at my shop I'm **** and I'm considered normal) let me know. They are down here in Chicago but one visit to their shop and you will be a customer for life. Family owned shop, the best guys around, they know my voice on the phone from just saying hello.

They are not the cheapest body shop around, and in some instances the most expensive, but their work is absolutely impeccable. They do not do any collision work, and all the guys working there are experienced restorers and race car body builders. No minimum wage workers, no b.s.

http://www.customcarsunlimited.com - PM me if you are interested. Their website speaks for itself.
