*** The W211 E55 FAQ ***
I get alot of PMs with questions from people and I find that alot of them are asking the same thing.. I noticed we don't have an FAQ for our cars (well, I searched and couldn't find one anyway).. I thought it would be nice to collect all the standard question/answers and start off an FAQ.
I'll start it off:
1) What are Euro Impact Strips?
These are the pieces of molding that run along the front bumper on either side of the car. The North American Versions have the amber lights on each side. The EURO version has NO amber light and therefore creates a smoother flowing bumper line.
2) What are Evo Intake Spacers?
They are a 0.5" phenolic spacer which are placed between the engine block and the 2 intake manifolds. It stops/lowers the heat transfer between the engine block and the intake manifolds. This in turn keeps the intake temperatures down and provides better efficiency.
3) What is Thermotec?
It is a company that sells heat resistant materials & products. One of those products is an adhesive-backed thermal blanket that you can wrap your air intake boxes and air intake tubes with. This keeps the engine heat from soaking the boxes and thus keeps the air going into the engine cooler.
We should also add the post by GMDEBRUYN: "E55 Modifications Features Summary" into the FAQ under a (Tips & Tricks Section).
It would be nice if we could create a section in the E55 bulletin board where we can maintain a document which is the FAQ. We could submit the content to a moderator and have him/her append the FAQ.
Just a thought... What do you guys think?

vrus,
i completely agree. i wrote up my laundry list based on all the things i had to research and what others kept asking me. how do we get a moderator's attention? and how do we make sure only the "meat" is published onto that FAQ.

I am actually hoping one of the mods will read this and comment on their view of the idea. I really think something like this is a MUST HAVE especially for anyone new to the marque.

Please add that XENON LIGHTS ARE OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT AND NOT STANDARD. Sorry to yell, but I'm sure a few of us on this board have experience regarding this situation.
