156 MPH on Speedo
Had the chance to push the car a bit, so i decided to take it up to the limiter. I let off just as i was approching the limit, and as i glanced down i saw 156 on the speedo. This is a stock car, how is this possible? Maybe there is a slight delay in the speedo?

The speedo has about 6-10% error...usually it shows it slower than actual.
I haven't tried the upper limits of my E55, but on some other Benzs and BMW's I've driven, the top speed is much higher than the governor or sometimes isn't even in there at all.

Its pretty much physically impossible to govern an engine's output to an exact road speed. Engine speed, yes, but not MPH. Even with the governor, you'll still get a few miles per hour +/-

Mine hit 160 last week heading home from Vegas, had lots of room in front of me and no one else around. I glanced down and saw 160 on the dial, not the digital. It just stopped accelerating but stayed there until I let off. Gawd, what a smooth car! My 1991 TT300ZX cut out at 157, literally, scared the crap out of me when the fuel shut off, felt like I hit something, anyway, these 55's are incredible!!!!!
