More E63 gossip...
I popped my head into the dealership today after dropping off a car at the service shop and asked about the new AMG motor and like most of the gossip all my rep told me was that they expect the engine to be a N/A 500hp engine. I asked him about the torque and hinted at a close to 600 ft/lbs.
However, he doesn't expect the the lates AMG engine variant to get into the E until MY 2007. The AMG engine will roll out first in the ML, then the S/CL, and then the E. Also, I got to see the CLS55 up close and it is stunning in person (I even got used to the rear end), but he said I should wait for the new engine before I jump into another AMG.
The speculation continues...

600 lb. ft. N/A!!!
NEVER EVER happen with only 6.3 Liters of N/A displacement on pump gas in a warranted luxury sports sedan. For argument sake, if you take the new BMW M5 motor which puts out about 385 lb.ft. of torque and is about as sophisticated as you can get and apply a straight line assumption that the new MB 6.3 motor will put out relatively the same amount of touque per liter, the torque on the new MB motor would be about 485 lb. ft.. This sounds more realistic, however if the 6.3 is pressurized then no problem getting 600 lb. ft. of torque. - Bob

yes a good guide for NA is 100Nm/L (74lbft/L) across all priced vehicles and maybe 110 for a highly tuned car such as an M3

Out Of Control!!
I don't know what everyone else's experiences are, but in my case, I usually believe just the opposite of what any car sales person tells me. They seem to be the dumbest people in business and know less about cars than anyone. As a rule, I disregard anything they say.

Wow, found these:

Looks like there'll be a S69, CL69 and SL69! In excess of 675 Bhp.
Plus I read in an article that the CLS65 will debut at the Paris Motor Show in Sept.
Looks like a horsepower arms race, Mercedes against itself.

Like I said, the speculation continues and I just plan to sit tight and enjoy the "known" 516 fl/lbs I got right now...

I think the new AMG engine will be coming soon - I think it's one reason why they haven't bothered to fix the SC squeak. It's too costly on an engine that will be going out of production s
I tried the valve grinding compound which did silence the squeak BTW.
