Got Keyed

Hey fellow members it finally happened.Somebody put a 2 inch key mark in my quarter panel next to passenger door.Took it to the dealer for repair. It will cost 700 hundred dollars but I have to do it.They say they pull some of the paint from the door to match.Any ideas how thses guys fix it.It really didn't make any sense to me.

I think they need to repaint the whole panel. That sucks so bad, though. Thats why I borrowed my sister-in-law's Envoy when I went to the movies the other night. So many stupid jealous people, it makes me sick.

I feel for you. Back in '97 I bought a brand new Ford Pick Up. With less than 2 months I had the rear tail gate keyed. Cost me $500. If I could only catch the guy who did this just once

Best of Luck with your car. I hope everything works out well for you.

What color is your car? The more metallic the color is the easier it will be to blend. Whatever you do do not let them paint only the panel. In order to do it properly they will need to go into the next panel to blend in or hide the new paint.. This is coming from someone who has had much experience at this from restorations and minor blemishes in paint. The "body artist" who has done my work showed me how this truly works versus trying to paint only a panel.

Unless your dealer has a state of the art body shop and a highly trained paint man, I would find someone who specializes in high end cars.

Its brillant silver. What the said is they are trying to pull the paint from the door so it will match better. What the hell does that mean? They are not painting the whole quarter panel.

maybe more painful is a freak accident yourself. while stripping my factory wheels a nearby door i was moving, fell over, hit another wheel sitting on the ground, rolled over and hit the bucket the stripped wheel was sitting on, knocked that over and the stripped wheel fell over and rolled over to the e and put a crease on the bottom sill, 2 inches long, below the drivers side door on the sill. it was like building a better mousetrap i could never have pulled off on my own.

I'm in Encino too! Really sorry to hear about your car. If you take it to the right place, you wont be able to tell. I would say to take it to Phil Thearles where mine just came from but its in San Diego which is hard to justify without having an accident. I am sure there are numerous shops locally that are more than capable. Good luck to you.

So sorry to hear leadfoot. Though hopefully the repair will go well.

Hang in there bud. You'll feel better once your burning up the road.

HAs to be Saudi Arabia, dude, not Turkey. THey may chop your hand off for stealing but also be a home to Osama BL, and if remember correctly to 17 out 19 9/11 hijackers.

Isn't that f...up? Movie theaters are the worst place to take a nice car, especially with so many young punks looking to be badass...Karma will get them...eventually.

I bring my company van to the local multiplex, especially on Friday or Saturday nights. Is it me or are there a lot more 12-13 year olds out there unchaperoned on weekend nights? When I was growing up, there was no such thing as being dropped off at the movies...parents these days have no clue.

from what I understand, nano can only be applied at factory, as it's baked on...so any paint work after the fact is just regular paint, non nano.

anyone else have more info on this?
