just wondering what you all think.
whenever I start up my car for the first ten seconds and the ac on there is a wretched smell that comes into the cabin for some reason. I don't know if its from me getting into my car sweaty sometimes after I go to the gym or what but nearly every time its always like this for 10 seconds but then its perfectly fine....
I was just wondering if anyone would know a quick and easy solution like using a leather conditioner maybe or if there is any way to take the odor out of the cars ac unit somehow.
Thanks for the help.

That nasty smell is coming from the A/C system. What happens is that when you park the car after the A/C was running, there is moisture left in the casing and ducts that just sits there, and causes mold or mildew to grow. If you take your car to the dealer, they have a new procedure for eliminating that, and if the problem persists I believe they will replace the heater case with a new one that has a coating on the inside that prevents anything from growing in there.

When you get out of the car, hit the "rest" button on the A/C panel, which will run the blower to try to keep the car cool, however, it has the secondary effect of drying out the heater case and ducting which should eliminate the problem.

The rest button doesn't exist in 2005 models. I think it was only there for 2003.

I had the smell too and have the rest button, but never used it. It seems to have gone away for a couple of months now. I wonder if the warmer weather dries it out faster.

I have the same problem. It rained the whole first week after I bought my car and I though it was related to water getting into my ventilation system. I 'll try the rest for a week on my 2005 and post the results.
