...i'm still wondering how well teleaid works in this kinda situation (and i know it works off gps..duh).. i just wonder how well they are at contacting emergency responders and how well they can pinpoint where you are in a situation like this. ( I know how it works in theory... just wondering if in real life they are quck and accurate.)

It's going to be hard finding something with all those options but if I take my time I can. My car only has 13k miles on it and it's a 2003, so that might be hard to replace. I'll keep you all posted on the car and the dip***** who hit me.

Sorry to hear about your accident but glad that it was in that car as oppose to some other car where you really could have been more seriously injured. The car can be replaced but your health can not so hopefully your injuries are not long-term or permanent.

ouch...damn man. At least your alright and the car did it's job of protecting it's occupants. The car can be replaced...from the looks of it, looks like it'll probably get totalled.
And a thing about the seat reclining all the way back...someone in the w203 forum just recently had his '05 C230k SS t-boned and the passenger seat had reclined all the way down too! Its like its just snapped and the seat just went down. Wonder why this is...
Hopefully everything works out for the best

SOOO sorry to hear about your E55. Mine was hit pretty hard 6 months ago but it wasnt as bad as yours. I hope everything works out for you. After seeing those pics, I'd say your lucky to be in one piece. I cant imagine that the insurance company would choose to fix that! Id say its time to go get a CLS55...if your into that look. Sorry again, I know the feeling and it sucks ***! All the best to you.

Man...that is a serious hit! I was hit from side while in my 996TT a year ago. The key to getting a total loss is hitting them with the rental car while in the shop. In Hawaii, they have the other side's insurance company has to provide you with a similar rental car and if that means renting an exotic...they gotta do that for you. I'm not sure of the law in your area, but that's what helped me get a total loss on my car.
Glad to hear you are ok. This is a true safety testimonial to MB!

Most important, glad that you are okay with the exceptions of the aches and pains. Hopefully, those just fade away. From the looks of the pics, it appears to be totaled. Keep everyone posted on your health, car, possible new purchase....and the %$@& idiot's jail time.

I got a voicemail from my insurance guy who came to look at it. Granted, when he came to check it out, it was backed up so you couldn't see the rear all too well, but...he said his estimate was $9600.00! $9600 for what? The rear bumper maybe. It almost makes me pissed thinking about it. I'm still crossing my fingers that it will be a total loss. Hopefully, I can have good news for a change.

Just got the police report!!!
The guy has had his license revoked since October 2003 and was still driving!!! So basically, no insurance, drunk driving, and no license since October '03. This guy shouldn't have even been on the freakin' road! My premium is going to go up because this guy hit me and has no insurance. What a load of bullcrap! I tell you what, it doesn't pay to drive around an expensive car. If you get in an accident and have a decent ride, you get screwed.

when you look at the car you can see things that point to his car NOT being fixable without 30k + in labor. That deformation in the rear door opening means that the car needs just about everything behind there replaced. The rear bulkhead needs to go and the list could go on and on. When the seat breaks you normally have a good chance its totaled because MB seats are very strong and only break in major wrecks.
While I have been the first to tell people to suck it up when their cars get hit in minor wrecks your car is not one of these. It really looks done. I would fight it for sure. $9600 wont cover anything on that car. The exh system alone is near 2k.
Keep us posted and get that car to the best body shop around. They will have the highest est of repair costs and in the event that you do have to get the car fixed you want that baby fix correctly.
Hope your neck is doing well. Been there before. Some people just cant drive (with our without permission from the government).

F*** i'd hop over and bang the other driver over the head if i were you. such a waste of beautiful metal. if he's uninsured he probably doesn't have a lot of money from which to claim, unfortunately. but i'm very sure the insurance ppl will write it off: just looking at the damage to the bulkhead, and possibly the structure itself, to fix would require months of effort and minute testing. i'm glad you're alright.
btw it seems to be a common thing for mercedes seats with someone on it to break in a major accident. is it because of the force of the seatbelt pre-tensioners? (just guessing).
on a side note, many totalled mercs end up in countries like malaysia (where i'm originally from): parts from different cars are put together and welded up as one car! it's dangerous (no testing done, weak structure, probably no safety systems, dodgy document trail etc) but not uncommon. illegal but it makes those scrappers a tidy sum! amazing what some people can think of.

I think its totalled, once they get underneath and look at the frame and floorboards, if they are bent, then they most likely total it. But then again, damage has to be more than 73% of the car, according to Mercury Insurance. this is my E39 540i that i recently totalled. This is 17k worth of damage to a 98..........this was beacuse of damn flooded 405 freeway
