What do you think of the stock air intakes?

The pro driver who pulled an 11.2 is running some type of custom air intake at the track. I look at them yesterday and they don't seem that restrictive. What do you think? I was thinking about trying some smaller gauge dryer exhaust tubing (I know how ghetto that sounds) run straight to the grill. Maybe it's a tad straighter and a bit larger for more air volume. Any feedback?

Try it and see. It might just help. One other thought is that the stock tubing is designed to keep engine compartment heat away from the intake air. That's why they use heavy plastic. You might want to wrap them with so sort of insulation if you use dryer tubing.

I wrote a post on this early but to just to re-mention, I obtained a noticable difference just by insulating the intake tubes themselves. It keeps the engine heat from effecting the air just a little longer. It makes a big difference. My best time was only 11.64 but I don't use nitrous.

Any pics? Awesome time.
