I meant no offence. Very often new products change from prototype to final version. In this case there are two versions. You never mentioned that when you posted the original photos. Thanks for clarifying it.
E55 is what you make it. If it's not "a race car" why do all the enthusiasts here keep taking it to the track...? Surely it's meant to do more than 1/4 mile in a staight line?
Anyway, evosport should be congratulated for their efforts. If the new rotors perform half as well as they look, we will all be very happy. The fact that they offer a 34lbs unsprung weight reduction compared to the stock rotors is a good start! The same 34 lbs of heat sink could work either way: quicker to heat up but also quicker to cool down.

Evosport upgrade

Mr. Vanos, that looks very promising! Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Evosport rotors look bigger than the stock rotors. Would you recommend slotted or drilled rotors for street and occasional track use? A road/track test update on your part would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Interested!!

I email evosport already and waitng for the reply.

I hope this new brake will take away the squeaking noise that coming from the OEM Brake.

Will the Kit come with the Pad too or just use the factory pad?

So my final question is drill or not drill on the new Direct Replacement Rotors? I want BEST performance...so if the above discussion is right, lighter performance better, will drill rotors a better choice because it will be lighter after drilling the holes? may be a dumb question but pls forgive me to ask. thanks.

Drilling holes actually decreases your surface area and decreases your brakes ability to absorb heat before loosing their effectiveness. The best rotor for the track is a slotted rotor that are properly vented with air to keep them cool. The holes in drilled rotors are stress risers that lead to cracks after repeated hard braking. Drilled rotors have a very good "bling" factor but serve little purpose now that brake pad technology has evolved into pads that do not outgas.

The only "drilled" rotors that are somewhat resistant to fractures are the ones that are "cast-drilled" such as the 993TT. Drilling and slotting both also prevent the ability to "turn" the rotor in case of some grooving or warping. The rotor has to have enough mass and cooling to prevent heat from cooking the pads and calipers and brake fluid.

One more important thing worth mentioning here...the stock discs do NOT have a unique right and left part. This means there will be one side (I believe the right side) where the vanes of the disc are backwards hence working against optimal brake venting. The new discs offer a left and right so that the vanes are pointing the correct direction for venting.

If you're still on stock Conti's the better upgrade would be to Michelin PS2's instead of brakes.

That is very significant - I am guessing my right hand rotor overheated. Also the "guy with the golden caliper" cooked his right rotor first, I believe?
Will the slots on the new discs alo follow the directional L/R pattern?

I am not sure if you are replying to my earlier post. My old Conti's are just "training wheels" Once they are totally worn out, and I mean "slick", I am putting Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on my track wheels. I have PS2's on my street wheels - fantastic tires!

Yes, whether slotted or drilled, there will be an appropriate L & R disc.

lets talk brakes and you talk about tires...

krispy likely was scared off by you but me... im far more resilient than that

PSII's are great and i agree they make the car more enjoyable but they sure wont make the brakes fade any less.

see this is where the rift exists. some of us drive the car hard and only those who do drive the car hard will see that the brakes leave much to be desired. it might stop well once from 140 but try that 20 times in a row during a 30 minute lapping session. bye bye brake pedal.
