annoying seat belt alarm

I have had my 2005 E55 for several months now and love it. But I'm really annoyed at the seat belt alarm. I wear my seat belt and do not have much issue with the alarm going off if I do not buckle up but the annoying part is when I simply place a stack of papers or some other item in the passenger seat that has even a little weight to it the damn alarm goes off. And continues to go off everytime I stop at a stoplight and then take off again. Is there a way to shut this thing off?

Uh, put the stuff in the backseat? Seriously, I have not had this problem with my car. That sensor must be too sensitive.

I haven't had this problem either, but if you search the general W211 forum, you'll see it's a fairly common complaint. There's a rumour that the sensitivity of the system can be adjusted by MB service.

Yes, it is definitely too sensitive. And I shouldn't have to choose to put stuff in the back seat because of this annoying thing. lol

I was hoping there was a simple fix I could do but I will ask service.

Thanks to you both for responding.
