Great news Jack. All our prayers were answered.

Tough crowd in the doctors' lot. Nobody noticed my new E55 because one of the surgeons got a Viper the same week

MB fanatic - call your cousin and let him know it's summer. The UM surgery residents don't get to see outside too often. Is it worth it? See paragraph above.

xraymd he is a real genious so I am sure he will go ahead and do it for 8 more years lol. He graduates this saturday though. Recieved a BS in cell bio and molecular bio from UCSD, did his master their as well, and went to UMICH for med school now. He really is into research, I think he did some pediatric cancer research while at UMICH. Not really a people person from what I can judge, so surgery might be good for him.

2014 GL 350 on order
guys: Im a pain doc at UM! small world-what is the cousins name doin his residency here?
JAKPRO: are you at a small hospital? That postop plan for her is in the dark ages-we quit using meperidine (Demerol) years ago-if given more that 600 mg a day the incidence of seizures from excess metabolites is a real issue-why not morphine or if she has an allegy then use hydromorphone (Dilaudid). Why no PCA (patient controlled analgesia)? Tell me they're not sticking her every 3 to 4 hours in the thigh with demerol?! Next time come to UM and Ill take care of you and any forum members!! sincerely, JokerzWld

specialty in surg = 7 years
1 year intern + 3 year residency + 3 year fellowship

cardiology/Gastro intestinal/ innards stuff is
3 year residency 3 year fellowship

the odd ball specialities radiology/anesthesia/opthomalogy/dermatology
are all 5 year

family practice/general stuff is 3 years.

Perhaps, I'll go the "CRNA" route not as much money but here in Sa-Town,
the low end odf the pay scale is about 154K. Plus, I like the OR alot

I absolutely agree with you. I'd like to take Meperidine off the formulary but some of the older guys still use a ton of it. Hallucinations and CNS stimulation after build up of active metabolites are a definite problem with it. I use bolused Dilaudid exclusively for ureteral colic and it works like a charm. :p

I'm a radiologist and even I know Demerol is a no no. I don't think it's even on the shelf at one of the hospitals I work at.
