What I meant by "only in an E55" was the "pee-in-the-pants" part.

The kickdown buttons have been in auto cars for a long time. I think it adjusts the timing, goes to the lowest gear, shuts off the a/c compressor, etc.

my friends 02 mustang doesnt have it, all of my cars have the kick down switch, i think its a german thing.

Definitely been around for a long, long time. My parent's old 1976 300 D, 1986/7 300 SDL and 2002 S430 had the kick-down button. It's a German thing...

On a serious note, if that is at all possible in this thread, I just found it curious that with all the sophisticated electronics, computers, sensors, etc. on these cars, that a "mechanical" button would still exist.
