Key Dead - No light

8k miles and 4 months, is this normal? Do i take it to the dealer?

My key died out a few months ago...with 10k miles. Went to walmart and got some replacement batteries, and all was good again.

You still might want to bring your car in as there might be some other key related problems. Those smart keys are known to fail from time-to-time.

Only about $250 hehe

You slide out your physical key and use the edge of the key to pop the battery case from the remote unit. You should see a little tab near the edge of where the physical key slides out.

Do you by any chance have a manual? The procedure with pictures is in the manual for the C Class. Maybe it is for the E Class, too?
