Accelerator Speed Sensor?

What is an "Accelerator Speed Sensor"?

Let me beat the wisecracks to the punch: "It senses accelerator speed."

I've done a search here (and a couple of other places) and cannot find anything on it.

there is a vehicle speed sensor that is usually on the side of the transmission, its where you get your speed from. now since the accelerator is by wire maybe you are referring to the sensor that determines the position of the gas pedal and relates that to throttle position???

Honestly, I don't know what I am referring to. It's the name that I was given. I'll know more when I pick it up and see the invoice.

I took it in and suggested that it was the intercooler pump
(see, https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=113521), but when tested, the car threw out a code indicating that the problem was the "accelerator speed sensor."

I'll post the information when I get the invoice (on the off-chance that anyone cares, or that the issue might come up in the future for someone else).

TPS or "Throttle Position Sensor" most likely.
