Audio static , CD changer no working

Audio static , CD changer no working
I have had a weird problem the last couple of weeks with occasional static that can be heard while playing CD's ( not only burned ones) and last night the static started again and then the CD stopped playing, and error message appeared , and then all lights are out on the changer and it will not show that i have a changer installed in the Audio menu of the COMAND unit??? any ideas????

as you have one of the first 211s it might be the changer (the first ones that MB released are known for their problems) or the Audio Gate Way (if it hasn't been swapped out under warranty already).
If it actually IS the CD changer, it is the perfect moment to go for the MP3 compatible CD changer...
