I little background on that case you are wondering.
That is NOT a jet car, it is a rocket car and one of the first cars that got me hooked on drag racing in when I was a kid.
Some guy was sick of jets and decided he could do one better and put basically the same system in a car that the shuttle is now using to maneuver in space.
The car I witnessed was the Natural High back in the late 70's/early 80's. They roll this thing up to the line, it sits there, and we laugh. They tell us to countdown and we laugh.....the guy hits the lever and mixes those chemicals. We all just sat there stunned for awhile. I believe he was in the upper 3, low 4 range. 2nd run put him deep off the track at the end and they banned him. State trooper at the end said his radar should read up to 330-350 range and it got a big E on the screen which meant it was pegged.
Shortly after, NHRA banned him Nationally, and rocket cars are only allowed to run overseas now. Sure was wild man.....
Last thing, as he pulls 6-7 G's off the line, he only can hold the lever open for half the 1/4, then close immediately, if he held it open like funny's do, he be airborne at 4-5 hunded.
THAT is officially NUTS. Fun to watch though.
No exhaust by the way....just like the shuttle, I believe the exhaust is just water vapor and something else.
Just found this on the net and flood of great memories came back.

That is friggin wild... That answers why the front doesn't lift of the ground as well. And if he's pulling 6-7 G's, he's probably be on the verge of blacking out as well. Pretty dangerous actually!
