Properly dyno'ing an E55 (W211)

I want to get my car dyno'ed, but I want to make sure the shop doesn't screw up my car. What locations on the vehicle should the straps be attached to? How do I run through the gears? This and any other suggestions are most appreciated.

1) Just underneath the air boxes on either side of the car are the spark plug wires. Depending on which side of the car is closest to the dyno computer, cut back the black plastic tubing that covers the spark plug wire closest to the front of the car. You need to trim off 1" so that the rubber wire is exposed enough to get the RPM lead around it.

2) Once the car is on the rollers and just before you get out of the car, turn the ignition OFF. PUT THE CAR INTO DYNO MODE. -> Turn the ignition key forward to the last position but DONT TURN THE ENGINE OVER. Click the Reset button 3 times VERY QUICKLY. You should see a diagnostics screen. Press the UP ARROW 2 or 3 times until you see DYNO MODE on the screen.

I dont remember the exact keys and the number of times to press them but I know how to do it in front of the car. Search for DYNO MODE on this forum if you need EXACT steps. .What I wrote will get you to where you need to be.

3) Once the car is started confirm on the dashboard that the ABS light is on and that the instrument cluster says ABS DISABLED, DYNO TEST MODE (or some similar lingo).

4) Put the car in Manual Mode.

5) Tell the operator you want 2 pulls done. Do one in 3rd gear and one pull in 4th gear. Tell him to start sampling at 2,500rpm.. Our cars make peak torque at 2,600 - 4,500 so you want to start sampling just before that.

That's pretty much all I can think of.. I 'll post more if I remember anything else.

They connect the straps to the front & rear axles if I am not mistaken. NOt sure of the exact mounting points because I wasnt under there with him.. He knew what he was doing so I didnt concern myself too much with the location..

Maybe someone else could chime in and lend some info....

My biggest fear is that they either won't strap it down properly and damage the vehicle. Unfortunately there is only one dyno I know of open to the public and a friend of mine had really bad luck with them. His car almost fell off the dyno because they didn't strap it down properly. However, when I was dyno'ing my old Supra it went smoothly. (laid down 667rwhp on stock longblock w. C16 race gas)

The way I have seen it done is to use four axle straps. For my car they strapped the front by using the axle straps through the wheel spokes first then attached the regular strap to that. The axle straps are padded so they will not harm anything and makes strapping alot easier. For the rear you use axle straps around the lower control arms and attach them to the regular straps. In the rear the large straps should cross each other like an X. The only thing to be watchfull of is that the straps don't touch the exhaust.

Hope this helps, I have seen the above method work with no problems whatsoever. If anybody has seen a better method please chime in.
