Not really, Dealers get paid to fix, repair, attempt repair, throw parts at, cars under warrenty!! Mb pays. Dealers dont get squat to tell people to go away..they want to fix ur cars...they just dont want to attempt repairs that are not authorized, recomended, or approved by mb----then they hurt themselves...and dont get paid by anybody.

I support the notion that lets buyers see how dismal MBs quality has been...and even more to the point....what a low interest they have in solving the problem....I have a 2001 E55, went to dealer to see about 2006 model...asked about the quality issue....sales guy said there were none...I responded by pointing out that this issue has been acknowledge by DB....at least in the Wall Street Journal.....his response was that if quality was poor why are they selling so many cars....and PT Barnum had the answer for that...

How can companies make better products if us as consumers are not aware of these issues and force the companies make better product if they want to survive- imagine if you went to a restaurant and they told you that you are getting mystery meat? I am gonna stick to the idea of knowing and let the good companies build good products rather than hide info and let these companies get away wtih selling us inferior goods and saying 'oh, you must have gotten a lemon or you are just being too picky because you are the only person complaining'- how many times have I heard that in sales

2004 E55 AMG
Forgive my ignorance, but how do we look up the details of a particular TSB?
Are there papers or an associated link to the fixes for these puppies? Or do I need the DAS+WIS+EPC to acquire this info?

Wow I wish I would have read this before purchasing my car. I think I felt some of the tranny hesitation the other day. I hope I didn't make the wrong decision. I should have went with an m5 or stuck with my scooby!

Hello all.
I'm a C32 AMG owner, but I am helping a friend who appreciates s/c torque find a slightly larger vehicle, so I recommended an E55 AMG. I looked around on this thread and saw all these TSB, and just like someone posted, it does cause concern.
The vehicle we found is an '04 with 63k miles, but as with most MB's, it doesn't show it's age; it is in excellent shape, never crashed, and the V-8 is very steady and even.
I know each car is different and each car must be inspected and each car has some risk, but thinking back to my purchase of my C32, members on this forum alerted me to the 'glycol contamination' issue, and it helped me avoid a problem child.
I see here above the EH brake warranty extension, and slow engaging tranny/fluid level as two to look for.
With that in mind, is there any other specific condition to look for in an '04 E55 that would cause major concern?
Thanks in advance.

I find that with my W211 E55 that I have gotten varying information on what is needed. For example I had one tell me that the valve cover gaskets need replacing and another said No it was just the breather gasket. Another said that the driver door handle need replacing because it did not work, when I got home it worked and has worked fine. One dealer said that I needed brakes all around since they are at 15 %. When I took it to another dealer and asked for a full review that did not mention the brakes.
My point is that if you don't know about cars and potentially how to fix some items you are at the mercy of the dealers who are both + and - so get a good one and maybe two comments before spending a lot of money.
