Exclamation Screw L.A. and it's potholes...

So I'm driving down Beverly Glen BLVD in Bel Air at around 3:00AM when all of the sudden my car hits a ridiculously small pothole the size of my hand. Anyway, "Check Brakes" comes on, tire popped, RIM BENT on the inside.
Beverly Hills Mercedes are quoting me at 800$ for the rim, $300 for the tire. And it's just ridiculous.
This town has more Ferrari's than Italy and the whole Europe, and the worst streets. Period.

Got a questions for my fellow AMG colleagues: If there is a suspension issue would I have noticed it on the drive home with the spare? Everything seemed normal, Airmatic I and II worked fine, and the car lowered and raised without a problem. Since there was no "collision" isn't MB Beverly Hills and my MERCEDES BENZ warranty cover suspension/alignment issues?

Absurd. 1,200 miles and already $1,000 in the toilet.

Should be covered under warranty about the suspension issue if it is. Just tell your dealer. As someone here said...Buck up!

I'm up in L.A. all the time and I agree, the roads are much worse than what we have down here in Orange County... however they're at least 10x better than what you'll find in say Boston, New York, or Philly...

We really do have it pretty good here in SoCal.

The roads here in Denver are as bad as back East. I was just in L.A. at the start of the week and remarked how nice the roads were.

Come to phoenix.. most of the freeways are paved like the autobahn with backtop and smooth as heck... It's easy to find yourself doing 100 without even realizing it.. between the quietness of the car, and smoothness of the roads.. especially the 101..

I thought they used laser now..

IF you really want to open it up, and will little risk.. Queen Creek road (off of I-10 on the south east end of Phoenix) is a great spot. It's Indian reservation territory, and there are NO cops.. just the occasional drunken native stumbling around

I took the CDI to 130 and the road was as smooth and well engineered as any autobahn I've been on.. it's a good 5 miles straight run..

The 101 is a great road, but too many idiot drivers in large SUV's, and too many cops camped out with radar/lazer guns.. 85 is as fast as I dare on the 101..

O.C. "Orange County" California where you can see any of the newest cars that the Auto Mags are talking about. You got to love it! - Bob

Jam, I also thought that. Without a doubt it should be covered right?
I did not body damage, just simply popped a tire over a pothole and the damn rim bent! Unreal. It's like they're made out of plastic...

If I couldn't feel anything, there's probably nothing wrong with the suspension right.

Also, should I pay them (if they ask) $$$ for alignment, or is that covered as well...?

Thanks...

Absolutely spoiled here! South OC is a total car county...

On my block alone we have a 2 SL55's, a CL65, a Galardo, and a F430, plus the usual assortment of other MB's, Porsche's, BMW's, and Audi's...

I would have to agree. I am always amazed at how terrible the roads in Cali are when I come back from business trips in Germany.

Claims suit... too much time too much bullsh**, take months...
from what common sense tells me and of course, the warranty on a brand new car, suspension issues should be covered.

it just kinda sucks that rock can take you down like that

The roads around my neighbor hood are fine, not good not bad just fine...that's why I had ordered my new set of iforged wheels in 17" instead of 18" or larger just so I can drive it at a reasonable speed. I actually ran through a few pot holes but luckly no damage done.

Actually, believe it or not.. and Barret Jackson will tell you.. most collectable cars originate from AZ.. 10-15 days of rain average has something to do with it.

I may not be 100% right on this one but my service advisor told me MBZ will honor one alignment as long as your car is not over 1 year old from the in service date and has less than 12k miles. The dealer I go to is Auto Steigler and I can hook you up with a real cool advisor. He knows about all my mods (stage 1, 2, cooling, brakes, etc.).
