E55 at the track tonight

I made 4 passes at the track tonight. Temps started at 90deg and got down to 79deg on the dash display.

First pass, tranny in sport, manually shifted to first, ESP on, floored it off the line. 1.93 60', 12.72@110.44. Second pass, I thought I could do better... HA. ESP off, same as above - 2.12 60', 13.27@109. Third pass, I let the computer take over again - 1.90 60', 12.63@110.53. Final pass, I did it myself again. ESP off, manually shifted to first, just eased into it at the line - 1.91 60', 12.46@112.83.

All in all a good night, as this was at a notoriously ****ty track A couple more passes, getting used to launching the car, I think I can get down into the low-low 12s (weather permitting).

How come you aren't running DR's?

I think you're losing a lot of time with wheelspin and retardation of the power.

Thanks for posting.

I wish you would have done just onnnnneee more pass.

All helpers on....ESP etc....sport mode.

Then quickly but real smoothly roll on the throttle off the line.....you would've been stunned at your time.

You can see in your 60ft time 1.9----2+ is where you had the most trouble.

That's how ole SGC rolled off near 12 flat on stock Conti's.

12.4 still ain't too shabby my friend.....not shabby at all.

Great job.

Just noticed that and fixed my post....sorry bout that.

You must have really turned heads.....when I rolled off a near 12.5 at 4500ft elevation......you would think I rolled an 8.5....I got swarmed with ricers wondering what my secret was.

Wayne those are good times. Did you ice the blower and intake in between runs ?. If you didn't try it next time you go.

Thanks. No ice on the intake or anything. I'll try all the little tricks when I go to a better track. This local track is known for being slow

It's about time to get the MD/VA/DC group geared up to go back to Capital Raceway in Crofton next month. We rent the track for a day and get as many runs as we like. Let me know if you would like to go up with us.

Alex should have his new Z06 by then

I did the whole ice thing the last time I went to the track and it worked wonders. Went on 2-3 runs and then sat back for about 20-30 minutes with Ice on the blower. Worked wonders. Was running 12.3-12.7 all night.

You should have seen the faces of the people there. Mid 12's in a "grocery getter" Priceless!~!

Has anyone ever tried to launch in 2nd gear, pedal to the metal to see what kind of time you'd get? I had the same problem of wheelspin in 1st gear with my SL

What track did you go to? I'm up your way and have been to 75 & 80 a couple of times. It's not the best track but, it's works.

Derrick, I went to 75/80. It's only about 10 minutes from my house, so it's convenient. It was crowded and a lot warmer than I hoped, in addition to being a slow track. Next time, I'll hit up Mason Dixon or MIR

That's pretty darn good for the first time at the track!

Great times!
