Keyless Go Problem....

Hi,
I have a 2005 E55 and lately my keyless go system is experiencing the problem of not being able to detect my key in or outside the car. I can't lock or unlock the car using the car handles anymore and I can't start the car either because it keeps on saying "key not detected." However, I can still be able to lock or unlock, start or shut off the car using the conventional key. I have noticed that my key is also having a hard time trying to lock or unlock the car from some angles (it never had any problems before).

Has anybody experienced this before? Is it because it has low battery, which would seem strange because I only had the car a little bit less than a year.

Help!

Neosky

Sounds like a bad battery in you key fob. Go to your local Radio Shack or something and get the batteries replaced with some other Li-Ion batteries. Should take care of it.

Keyless Go

I put new batteries in my fob when I bought the car in July and I'm still experiencing the same problem. Not all of the time, BUT on a fairly regular basis. I plan to have MB service look at it next time I take the car in.

Is is happening in the same area? Is the area polluted with alot of radio frequency interferences? If the problem is not regularly ocurring then it is unlikely that it is a battery problem or transmission probem from the key card. You should try to rule out outside sources of interferences, first!

You will be surprised how fast Keyless GO can eat the batteries in the fob. Just a small drawback to an otherwise awesome system.

I just changed the batteries in my key. It was working fine, but a message came up telling me my key battery was low.

take out valet key, should see a gray release switch on the inside. push the release switch with the valet key and simultaneously pull the top half of the fob, exposing the battery.

I was getting the same message. Freakin' dealer wanted $23 to replace the batteries in my fob .
I spent less than 6 bucks at WalMart & cracked open the owner's manual for the battery replacement instructions. Took me 30 seconds to replace them.

No man reads instructions!!! they were not designed for anything other then women mocking men for not reading them!!

and if you look closely ( with feminine and instruction reading eyes) you will find that each instruction manual comes with the phrase ''I told you so, you should always read the manual!...men! ''

no offense was intended with the post and we would all be lost if not for that phrase

Open the battery storage.... take out one battery.... bend the metal piece that's touching the battery to touch the battery even more. It should fix the problem... at least mine
