Underhood Fans?

After reading a few posts, I was wondering how effective underhood fans might be on a vented hood?

I know we do this with computers all the time. The more air you can push out, the more air gets *sucked* in or pushed in by the intake fans, that means your cpu gets cooled more, therfore you can pump up the clockspeed.

Perhaps the same thing can work for the E55? I was looking at the (forgive me if I butcher the name, I truly can't recall it) R-Tune R34 Nissan Skyline and I noticed that it's hood had vents right near the side view mirrors.

Help push air out? Or would you need something that would push a massive amount of air? I know that these small 120mm^2 fans pump about 90cfm @ 2400rpms.

Food for thought?

What about putting an aluminum heatsink with a copper base on the top of the supercharger?

LMAO ricky, lay off on whatever it is that you are smoking lol. IM jk.

This actually sounds like a good idea, but im sure it wont work. There just isnt any space under the hood for any sort of cooling system that you talk about.

Think so? I haven't had a W211 to try to test this on.

I'm just thinking, even if not 120mm^2, there are 80mm^2 fans as well. All these are about a few centimeters deep.

It would be cool if we could retrofit a freon cooling system on top of the supercharger.

why not use a peltier & copper heat sinks pad on the charger, as rick mentioned in computers. since the engine is already liquid cooled, why not use a peltier pad to cool it a little more. j/k aside heat rises, wouldn't a vent on hood will draw the air out due to vacum from air traveling over the hood of the car??

Or water cooling.

I'm just taking the 'bag on a towel' extent just a bit further. Rather then a passive cooling system, it'd be active. And you'd be able to drive at the same time.. plus it's not that expensive if you look hard enough or DIY.

LOL I've always been freaked by peltiers. Never got into them, but if I understand right, that's how refrigerators work.

As for the vaccum being created on the outside, you're right. But that's on top of the hood, what about ... right behind the hood?

Must get my hands on a W211 ASAP.
