Brabus cam upgrade for 2002 E55
I have been thinking of doing the cam upgrade on my car. The price is about $5000.00 installed by Brabus. The yield should be about 30hp and 20 lb ft of torque, according to them. The problem is that my car is in Michigan, not California. It would cost as much to ship the car back and forth as the upgrade. Brabus won't warranty the parts unless they install them and the dealer won't install any "after market" parts. Brabus assures me that the install should be no problem for a qualified shop. Still, I'd be at risk if anything went wrong.
Has anyone actually done the cam upgrade? Did it yield the claimed results? What other effects if any did you see (ie noise, fuel economy, driveability...etc)? Top end running should be enhanced. Will it affect the low end torque of the 55 in any way? Any other useful info would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you'd actually see 30 HP, unless they are talking crank HP. At 1/3 the cost of a blower setup, that is some expensive horsepower.

Brabus sent me a copy of their catalog for my car in PDF. It claims 20 hp and 11 lb ft of torque. Down considerably from what was claimed on the phone. At 5 grand, that is expensive horsepower.
