Radio volume question

Fellow E55 owners;
The radio in my car is driving me nuts. Does anyone notice that the volume on their radio changes while driving, talking etc...
I am sure this is some type of volume compenstion but I do not like it.
It is much more sublte in my Lexus.
Can this be turned off?
Thanks
Josh

What type of E55 do you have W210 or W211? On my 210 I had the speed sensitive radio but had the dealer turn it off. On my 211 I never had that problem.

I have the same thing happening and just assumed it was a speed or noise compensation. It does change the volume enough to where I notice it but not enough as of yet to make me concerned about fixing it.

Mine is bad enough that myself and my wife both noticed it on seperate occassions.
The last time it occured I was going about 55 with the drivers window down, stereo on mid to low volume, and my wife and I were carrying on a conversation.
Everytime one of us spoke the radio would turn itself up enough to be annoying and then would turn down just as far the other direction from the original volume setting.

MB is constantly trying to tweak the electrics in this vehicle. I can't figure em out. Although it took 6 mos to get put in, worked perfectly. O5 E55 still hasn't worked right. The stereo in my 03 was anemic but the 05 is great. Why they would tweak it, other than add bass is beyond me.

My guess is that they have changed the noise compensation module which is too sensitive. Get your dealer to check it. May be a software issue. I wonder how long it's gonna take the Germans to figure out that Japanese and Americans make the best software. And sometime I wonder about Americans. Alls I can say is it better than Lucas in MGs. They were the worst.

I would suggest getting a high end stereo outfit to put a sub in the trunk and you'll love it. I have been suffering with a sucky sub for a year. Do it know it's worth it.
