Brabus 6.1 upgrade on E55
I have an 02 E55 and was wondering if anyone has done the Brabus 6.1 upgrade? You end up up with 426 hp and 445 lb ft of torque. Outside of the cost ($32,000 NOT including installation - OUCH), would such an upgrade be more practical, or at least desirable, than simply moving up to a 211?

Kleeeeeemaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn superchargeeeeeer 11.000 + ECU + headers + smth else worth around 20 grand and you have 580hp+ with 550 trq!
Do you really wanna waste that much money for brabus mods and be slower knowing you could be faster for less and still have leftover money to spend?

I've been considering this http://www.kleemann.dk/site/Main/tun...ns/nav8engines
I think it's well more worth the $$$ than Brabus.... Talk to JamE55 in this forum.... his car went through Kleeman's S8 upgrades.... I think the cost is "only" around $11K.
Stock: 349 HP / 391 lb-ft
Kleeman S8: 596 HP / 567 lb-ft
Brabus: 426 HP / 445 lb-ft
Other company you may want to try is Evosport & Renntech... both are cheaper than Brabus.
The thing is Brabus keeps the engine NA so less thing to break.... but Kleeman is way more bang for your bucks!

i think it's a no-brainer-- get a new or even low miles used e55 w211. you will have even more horsepower than the upgrade and it will be a hell of alot more problem free w/ manufacture's warranty. plus, you will have the newer, better looking body and electronic upgrades. the only reason i can see you staying w/ the w210 is that you love that body and not the w211 and you will be getting a more rare car (brabus w210 e55) as oppose to a stock w211 e55. either way, you'll have a very fast e55.

So W210 E55 (~$25-$30K) + Kleeman S8 ($11K-$20K) < '03 E55 (~$60K?).
Never tried it myself (tempted )... but looking at their specs and JamE55's claim, I believe it.

OK... now since we're in this topic....
S8 does include S/C, ECU, exhaust & headers, while S7 is everything except exhaust, right?
And I thought I read somewhere (plus from James? Pardon my bad memory), S8 costs you around $11K.... but now I saw some people commenting that $11K only buys you S/C which means it's not S8.
So my question:
- How much is S8 & S7 installed?
- Does S8/S7 include S/C?
- Does S8 produce the 596hp/567lb-ft? Or... I need to add something else to get there?
- If $11K doesn't buy you S8, what does it buy on the top of S/C (or just S/C)?
If S8 does cost you around $11K +/- $4K, I will remain considering it (we'll see about how I should use the money... towards a new car or mod my W210). If it costs around $20K or more..... that's another story.
If I'm completely off.... please correct me. I stand corrected.

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said. There's no question that the Brabus route is the most expensive and that you don't get quite the over the top numbers you can with other options. I guess my only other questions would be 1. which of the options would be easiest to live with? And 2, money aside, if you could have it simply for the asking, would you guys turn down the Brabus upgrade for the pure performance of the others? Part of my attraction to the 6.1 is that you really don't see many of them around. You'd be driving a pretty distinctive car that would retain a certain value no matter what the price of "ordinary" E55s was doing.

You can have a supercharger cheaper then that.
Kleeman overcharge like 50% for name and overrated labour.
There are places that can supercharge your car with the same type of supercharger for a lot less.
I'll try to find out and post the info.

One last comment....used 55's are running in the 50's now (bottom of spectrum).
Use your (32K + MINIMUM 5K) install plus equity in 02 and you've got yourself a facelift AND near 500hp.....

Actually, I am not interested in making a statement to anyone about my car or status. When I got my 55 the only thing I had in mind was my personal enjoyment of ownership. My car is bone stock other than the set of K&N's under the hood. And I don't drive it any way that would draw undue attention to myself (especially by Officer Catch'em). My questions about upgrades are purely academic. I only wanted to know what the most knowledgeable and experienced MB owners consider to be the most desirable upgrades. And why they feel that way. Thanks for all your input.
