Stripped wheel bolt
I must have the worse luck ever. i had bought some wheels and had a local shop install them. The rear wheels did not fit properly, so I have to remove them and send them back. It was too late to have the shop reinstall the originals, so I decided to do it myself. Upon removal, I noticed that the one of the bolts required quite a bit of effort to remove. Sure enough, it was stripped. I removed the bolts and also noticed they did not use the hubcentric spacers provided with the wheels.
I proceeded to install the original wheel and, sure enough, the original bolt is not secure and it is also stripped now. Just wondering what my options are here, cuz I have a feeling the shop will wash it's hands of responsibility since i am the one who removed the wheel they installed and proceeded to install the original wheel. Furthermore, I would not have known about this unless I had removed the wheel myself. I swear I have the worst damn luck with this car.

I haven't pulled a wheel on the E, so take this advice with a grain of salt ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If you just boogered up the bolt, replace the bolt, chase the hole with a tap and you're good to go. If you stripped out the bolt hole in the hub(?), I see 2 choices. The first is a helicoil. It's easy, DIY, buy the kit at an auto parts store. Drill the hole, tap it 1 size larger and install the thread insert. Second, replace the entire hub assembly ($$$$, I assume).
Good luck!

Not cheap, but probably less than a new hub. Harbor Freight
Don't know your location, but you can find their retail stores here

I've always been weary of harbor freight stuff, but I'll probably try this set out and pray for the best.
If anyone else has suggestions on where to get a 14x1.50 tap, please let me know.

Well, it turned out they owe me a new hub.
Folks, when you get your custom wheels mounted, keep an eye on them. I was lazy and didnt want to wait around. Had I known this could happen, I would have definitely made sure they did it correctly.
