Intake tubes
Does any company make intake tubes to replace the factory ones?
I know this has been discussed before (for performance reasons)....any updates?

I'm wondering if any of the Tuners have gotten off their *** and made a nice set to replace the OEM pieces.

Something that uses the Venturi effect and also uses the ability to induce a ram air effect at speed.
Venturi=larger to smaller, increasing the velocity of the intake air.

OK
I took a long look at the factory intake tubes and two words....they suck.
I'm sure many of you have already looked at them but I'm going to state my observations.
1. no way can these flow enough air to produce HP #'s much larger than stock. The opening has so many air flow bottlenecks it is obvious that MB did this to limit HP (not Torque, think top end.)from the factory.
2. They are hot as HELL :v The fact that the radiator is sitting on the side of the tubes is horrible.
3. As you all know, the right hand tube has a restriction in it.
So, I am going to try and find a local shop that can designe something that will fit through the stock opening that will be mandrel bent and have more of a oval end for air flow to enter into. I am also going to wrap it with some Thermo-tec product, probably their Adhesive backed heat barrier.
PS.
Unless some tuner on this board will do it. I will buy the first set

Suprisingly, they are not bad. Upgrading left one to S500 version helps a little, but the main bottleneck are the airboxes and the way they receive air from the tubes.
We are working a carbon-fiber boxes with better entrance flow and bigger air filters. They will also have new intake tubes.

I looked at the airbox, and am also supprised by the small volume that is given for the air to make a large turn, go through the air filter, and then make another turn into the next set of tubes.
