I've refrained from replying because I didn't want to sound like an a$$hole BUT I didn't say it was impossible, I said it's expensive.
For us mere mortals dropping $200k on an SL600 then Renntechin it is a bit beyond our means.
I can make my POS Vette run 9's. It just takes money and know how.
Anybody can pay Renntech to massage a beast and make it rediculous.
You do the work and I'll be impressed. ( Now I know I'm sounding like an a$$hole, Sorry)

Uhm wow you guys went waay off topic. But as long as we're on ti already... stock VS stock. The new z06 vette will kill the E55. Why? Because one is a race car and the other is a sedan. And a modded vette Vs a modded E55, the vette will still win, why? because ones a race car and the other a sedan...

I was just saying that it takes a lot of money (relatively)to make an E55 gain .5sec in the quarter because of it's ponderous weight. A lighter vehicle inititally will provide way more bang for the buck.

A Mercedes Benz is more than it's engine and transmission folks..
The R230 (SL) is an amazing feet of engineering designed to be drive at 180+ mph day in and day out on the German Autobahn.. the Vette, while also fast.. isn't engineered for this kind of use.. it's a US car.. not a world car like the SL.. why do you think they are such poor sellers in the EU?
