No front plate ticket

Kim got written up South Pasadena for no front plate in the SLK any ideas how I can (temporally) get a front plate signed off by the police without drilling the bumper? Jim

Your car should have come with a front plate bracket. Attach the plate to it and then use automotive grade 2 sided tape to attach the bracket to your car. The tape is used to hold on side skirts and spoilers - it will stay in place if you do it right. Then once you get it signed off, take it back off. It might help to use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the tape so it comes off easier.

Drives Slowly
If you want to go to less trouble, attach the front plate to the lower grill with some thin wire. Believe me, they are not going to inspect the mounting job. After they look, two snips and your done. :v :v

front plate

I think you should run a front plate all the time if your state requires it...a friend of mine two years ago did not run a front plate on his Q45 got pulled over because of it, he had 3 drinks in about two hours, the cop said he smelled alcohol and my friend blew a .08... got a dui, spent a few hours in jail, and cost him about 10 grand.
I guess you could say he should not of been driving but none the less that is a stiff price to pay for no front plate IMO.

I agree with AMGE - why give the cops a reason to pull you over- it's just asking for trouble.

I used to live in San Francisco and they will pull any car over they see without a front plate.

Either way your car still looks and runs great .

On the other hand, I've lived in California for 20 years, never run a front plate, and have never gotten ticketed. Guess it all depends, and since the CHP has been turned into a revenue generating unit (no longer "to protect and to serve"), they probably pick nits more than they used to...

That's a tough one. I used to be a huge advocate of the "no front plate" tribe here in Cali. Hated to ruin the clean lines of the front of any car (It really boils down to looks if you think about it). Well, I finally got ticket for NFP so I compromised for the sign-off and jury-rigged the plate on with zip ties. The cop noticed my efforts, and would not sign the ticket until I used the proper plate bracket...frustrating. So the net net is now I run a front plate.

I agree with the point made about "having a drink or two" and getting pulled over at an inopportune time. However, that inopportune time may be when you are late for a meeting, interview, etc. and not so much about drinking. For me it's worth the peace of mind to keep the plate on the car. It really doesn't look THAT bad...(does it?)

Go to your local ACURA dealer, yes ACURA, and buy a front plate mount from them. I recall that they have one that DOES NOT require drilling into the front bumper.

Jim its a simple fix and you live right by me so I know. Go get a couple bags of lettuce :p :p - take the wire fasteners from the bags and tie your plate to the mesh grill underneath. Do this in the Jack in the Box parking lot 2 miles south of the CHP. Then drive over the CHP station, pay the 10 dollars inspection fee and have them sign off the ticket. I have done this several times over with our CHP station and they are not too picky on the mount job. Then return to Jack in the Box, remove the plate and get a Jumbo Jack.

I hear you, bro, and see your point. I DO hate the way the front plates look; just can't get over it! BTW, I keep the front plate in all my cars; if I'm ever pulled over my line is, "the dealer failed to mount the plate; I've had the front plate bracket on order with them and will install it ASAP, officer"...

i used to get tickets for no front plate at school
i got some black velcro and when i parked i stuck the plate on
there was a little piece of velcro that was barely visible on the bumper, but its better than a white a plate.
after i transfered from that school i just took the piece of velcro of the bumper, no stains scratches, nothing

as for temporarily putting on a plate, thats easy, double sided tape , ive done it at least 5 times, i get rolled all the time for no front plate, i just tell them i think it looks like **** and they give me a ticket and i go on my merry way :p

I had the same thing happen to me in my corvette all i did was display it on my front windshield and they said that was fine. I wouldnt want to drill holes or put tape on anything, but good luck with that.
