2004 vs. 2005 - How's this deal?

Other than the console difference, what are the differences, pros/cons of '05 vs. '04 and how much savings should I expect from an '04 vs '05.
I have a line on a '04, 15K miles, lighting, nav, keyless for 65K - looks in great shape except has original tires. Is the '05 worth 6-7K more?

Thanks

15k miles on the stock tires? At least you know it was driven gently.

(sorry I don't have any insight into the 04 vs 05, other than I'd get the lowest mile car you can afford)

You'll also get the free maintenance with the 04.

Free maintenance is worth a bunch - I should know - And to prove my point again, my car broke down on the side of the road today (Sunday) on the way to the airport - its really comforting knowing it wont cost me a cent for 4 years - one of the reasons I passed on my 05 CLS55.

But damn the inconvenience - fortunately I am out of town while it gets repaired - TeleAid took 2-1/2 hours to get a tow truck to pick it up and to add insult to injury, it broke down ONLY 300 yards past the Fort Lauderdale MB and 1/2 mile short of the airport - had to leave my wife stranded on the side of US1 waiting for MBUSA to get the car towed

Yeah I know - I married an angel!!!!!!

if i'm not mistaken, the roadside nightmare you describe is covered under the vehicle warranty regardless of whether it's a 2004 or '05. the free maintenance that applies to pre-2005 cars is the "scheduled maintenance", which is the A/B/A/B services over the 50,000 miles of the warranty. according to the service departments at a few dealers i talked to while researching the car, it adds up to around $1600 worth of charges over 4 years/50k miles. if you can get 1600 off the sticker of an '05 (not very difficult to do) and throw the savings into a bank account, you'll have gotten the same deal.

after 2005 MB won't offer schedule maintenance?

I'm only looking at 04 or 05 E55...
