Great 60's!!! I wish I could get those.

That is a great improvement, siswati! Don't be discouraged, anyone down in the 12.0-.1 range is running in much better conditions than what you had for your track visit.

Get out there on a cool day and you'll be showing us all how it's done

Hi guys

Just in case any one is interested I posted a video of my fastest run - 12.33 at 111mph with the fast 1.796 60ft time on our family website. I will host it here until the bandwidth dries up. That killer jet-engine like sound is not my car - its from the next car in line warming his tires at the water trough!

Video - Siswati - Moroso 1/4 mile - Dec 8th 2005

Regards

Siswati

2005 Brilliant Silver E55
Wayne, I'm confused about his trap speed...I would have thought that based on his trap speed his E/T should have been more like high 12's...no? I know his 60' time was GREAT but damn, I guess seeing the stock E55's run that day and seeing Siswati's time, it's just amazing. I recall in my Stage 1 E55, my best 60' time was 1.75 with ET 12.07 with a 117.8MPH trap...where am I confusing myself?

The only thing that comes to mind is that his car was falling off up top due to the heat/humidity. At our track day, I went 12.1@115, so his 12.3@111 doesn't seem so strange.

Hi Wayne

seeing as how you know all this stuff, I was wondering if you could help me -
there are some fairly std rules of thumb / accepted ratios for

Altitude and ET
HP+Weight and ET

so are there any rules of thumb / ratios for

Temp and ET
humidity and ET

Anyone out there with any real world experience or empirical data?

many thanks

Siswati

Here are a couple of online calculators to use for correcting your ET/Mph to standard conditions...

http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/corr_dew_point.php
http://www.bgsoflex.com/etmphcorr.html

I'm sure there are more out there, just google them. To get the exact information about the weather, go to www.wunderground.com and enter in your zip. There is an historical weather link about mid-page on the left, enter in the date and you'll get an hour-by-hour breakdown of the conditions for the day you were racing.

Was hoping the cold front would last, but it warmed up today - cant see Friday (last day this year) being any cooler than last week so I will wait for the first cold front in early Jan. Hoping for temps in the 60's or lower and Relative humidity of 60% or lower.

I can make it on January 6th, Jan 11th or Jan 13th

Any one interested in going on any of these dates please confirm / add your name here so we can PM each other.

Moroso Times

Hi Guy's
I finally got back from my trip to JAXs . And started to look at my Numbers. MAN I was seeing things?? Right lane was more like
13.30s
r/t .375 & .355
60'- 2.444 & 2.219
MPH- 105.88 & 106.28
it went much better when I switched to the left lane . Then things started to happen
Much Better R/T times . I could see the tree much better
13.065 & 13.088
R/T .048 & .051
60' 2.219 & 2.215
MPH 107.53 & 107.68

Not The 12.26s I thought. Sorry, But I was having fun and a good lesson on trying to keep the Wheel (1) from spining so much.
I had talked to a Dealer I see , that runs there all the time. Whats the secret >I asked. He Laugh . You were not there on test and tune night. Well yeah.. He said that all the cars that were not on the dial in side ., usually have lots of water from the ice bags , Still in the engine compartment . and it drips on to the track . The other thing is the Big Pick up truck / Diesel type . some still have dirt & sand up in the frame rails . And shake it out on to the track during burn outs . and of coarse , what you said about the cold air & hi humidity did help much at all. Even the Dial in Guys were 1/2 sec off
There is a slick & drag tire only night . I think it is once a month ?? The Moroso Track crew cleans & preps the track , then , for that event . Well it was great meeting you guy's
My cams came in . The headers should be here any day . and I need to pull the Diff to install the LSD. Merry Christmas ___PTE___

I think the 12.26 was my buddy's 05 GTO -PTE. He went 11.02 shortly thereafter with the nitrous. Thanks for the shirt everybody liked it except for the hardcore mercury boys.

Sorry about the weekends - at Moroso they are reserved for the competition events - and are not available for Test and Tune (Joe Public), so we are limited to Wednesday and Friday Nights.

Moroso is available for rent duting the week - and I would certainly be interested in taking a day off (or night) and renting it with a bunch of MBWorld guys - anyone interested

Nights $1100 + $280 = $1380 for 6 cars - thats only $230 pp for 5 hours
Days $1300 + $280 = $1580 for 6 cars - thats only $263pp for 7 hours

Extra cars are $175 pp

Moroso Rental

I am sure we could get a good bunch of S.FL boys together and maybe invites some out of towners who are holed upo for the winter. Would be fun to swap stories and tuning tips with the freinds I have chatted to on this board. And no reason to limit it to this board. Invite your buddies to run what you brung, and once we decide on a date I will extend the invite to the M5Board as well.

My preference is for anytime in the first two weeks of January - I am then unavailable till end Feb with business commitments.

We would need to book fairly soon - days can be good if we are there early before it heats up. Nights are also good as in winter it cools quickly after sundown

ANYONE Interested?

let me know

Hey Siswati, i up for renting the track 1st two weeks of Jan works good for me to. I'll see if I have any friends that want in. We can also ask the local chapter of PCA and BMWCCA if any of them want to join if we can't get enough people.
