TPMS Standard on 2006

I've been getting conflicting info on whether tire pressure monitoring is standard on 2006. Do you 2006 owners have TPMS and, if so, did you order it as an option? Perhaps the better question is whether there are any 2006 WITHOUT TPMS? Finally, for those of you with TPMS who use winter or non-stock wheels, did you replace the sensors or do you go without? If you go without, did you find a way to turn off the dash idiot light?

Thanks

I don't see any TPM in my MFD. There's no mentioning of TPM in the owner's manual either. I'll check it again tomorrow

Tyre pressure loss warning is standard on all Australian cars in 2006. It is software based as a function of ESP.

2006 E55
I have a new 2006 E55 built in August 2005 and I did not order TPMS, nor did it come standard with my car. It may be standard now, I don't know...

How about guys w/ TPMS ...MBUSA web site is self-contradictory

If you have TPMS on your 2006, did you order it as an option and, if so, at what additional cost? Did it come as part of package?

Interestingly, MBUSA web site "build your own" does NOT list it as an available option. BUT - in the standard equipment list under instrumentation, it lists TPMS with a footnote that says "when equipped with this option." Weird.

More info

I found some suggestions on other boards that the standard TPMS on other 2006 MB models is not the one that has sensors on the wheels but rahter one based on ABS sensing tire rotational speed - thus not requiring sensors. Anybody think this is what is now standard on the 2006 E55?

Apparently my 2006 has TPMS as STANDARD Equipment

My dealer had the service tech confirm that I have TPMS with sensors on the valve stems of all 4 wheels. It is not listed as an option on the sticker, nor am I being charged for it as an option. 2006MY w/ 5/05 build date. I"ll confirm when I pick car up tomorrow. Guess this is an example of anti-decontenting.

Please confirm if you have them or not. I was told by the salesman that he thought they became standard, and I didn't need to order (or could not order). When I took delivery I tried to find the option in command, and was not able to (even after reading the manual on how to do it). When I took my car in for the "Get Aquainted" service visit, I asked the rep about it, he said he thought it was not only standard but soon to be required by law on all new cars. I asked him to have the tech confirm it. Well when I got my car back all he did was rave about what great condition my car was in. As an after thought I asked him about the TPMS; he kinda went " oh,,,the tech said you didn't have it". That response didn't evoke my upmost confiedence that he even asked the tech. So I would be interested to hear what you find out.

It has TPMS.....but "reactivation" issue

Picked up the '06 E55. Sticker does not list TPMS as standard or option. I can cycle through my display menu and get to TPMS screen. It says something like needs to be "reactivated" I hit the button for reactivating, it says its active but it still doesn't read the pressure. Dealer says I need to bring it in for calibration (of course, I just picked it up new from dealer yesterday - perhaps the could of calibrated it then????)

Anyway - TPMS is standard on my 5/05 build date '06 E55.

Anybody ever have this "reactivation" issues?

2005 E55
I test drove a CLS55 and I sat in and started the engine in an SL65. Both of them said that they needed the re-activation thing. I followed the instructions in the CLS and it never worked. The salesman knew nothing about it (what's new). The other salesman in the SL65 could not get it to work either. He was the one who sold me my E55. He said that the TPMS needed a few road miles on it before it could be calibrated. They got mine to work before delivery and I have not had any problems. I could not get the one in the CLS to work, even after driving it. Maybe you will have better luck with a tech. Good luck.

S65 V12 Bi-turbo
When I test drove an '05 E55 a few weeks ago, the salesguy showed me TPMS on the car. Allegedly, it only works after you have driven for a short while, it does not work when you just turn your engine one. That was the case in my test drive too. At some point, he activated it and it showed that all the tires had the right pressure. Sorry, can't be more precise as I'm still awaiting delivery for my E55 (any day now!).

Now that my TPMS is calibrated, it always works if the ignition is on. I don't have to start the engine or be driving/moving.
