E55s at the track (along with an M5 and a few other cars) today

Well we hit the track today. Spero was nice enough to organize again - Thanks, dude!

It was damn cold. Way too cold and windy to be racing... but with the threat of snow and ****ty weather just around the corner, we knew this would be the last chance to get out this year.

My previous best in my stock E55 was a 12.20@116.18. It was probably 20 degrees cooler today, but the best I could muster was a 12.16@115.29. 60' times are 1.77 and 1.85, respectively. I think the extra power was wasted in the form of wheelspin, even through 2nd gear. The MPH drop was due to that nasty headwind I mentioned in the other thread.

Alex was nice enough to let me drive his M5. It is a really nice ride and definately a screamer. I don't think it's a threat to the E55 at the strip, but it pulls like a monster on the top end. It was 2-3mph faster through the traps than my car.

Derrick and Spero had incredible results with their cars, Derrick on Toyos and Spero on 17" drag radials. Hopefully someone can post the John Force-style Spero burnouts

Here's the early group of us waiting to make some runs...

I'll let everyone else post up their numbers.

Wayne those are awesome 60 ft's for a radial tire car. I have drag raced several different cars and can honestly say that radial to radial our cars are one of the best (rwd) launching cars.

It was a blast for those who made it out. Like Wayne said, it was way to cold but I think all of us had a blast out there. The cold air did help make more power but my 60' times were off .07-.25 all day from earlier in the year. Wayne, the 11.55 was a true pass I guess because I was able to back it up with a 11.52 at almost 122mph. My last pass of the day was an 11.60 at 121 with a passenger in the car with me. Can't wait til spring! I have some good video of Spero's burnout's but have no idea how to get them downloaded. if anyone can help me out I'll post what I have. It was good seeing all you guys and hopefully will be able to do this again. Thanks again Spero for getting it together

I have Spero's 11.63 run on my camera. Did anyone get my 11.52 on video? I think Neal (guy with the Cyclone) has it on his but not sure? I would love to get that from whomever has it on film.

I know! I had Spero and Neal film me in my car and neither got video of the run. I just need someone that can operate a camera. Both of my runs have the start of my burnout and then off goes the camera. Oh well. I too stupid to know how to download them even if I had them. It would have been nice to see though.

It was nice seeing you guys at the track today and thanks for giving me tips on my first ever run at the track. Unfortunately I only ran my car once because three of my four tires had not enough air pressure with the front one being almost flat. Spero tried to help me put air in them but it was impossible to do it since I have HRE rims and the hose wouldn't fit. Thanks a lot Spero!
I ran 12.6 @116 with a 60' of 2.19 bone stock which is not that bad considering the tire condition which gave me a horrible 60' and I know for sure that with proper tires I could definitely get somewhere between 12.1 to 12.4.
Thanks again guys and let's look forward to running again in Spring!

What kind of camera do you have? I have a firewire card in my laptop. If you have a firewire port on your camera, I can pull the videos off for you (just need to DL some software).

I'm about 3yrs into my 5mp Sony digital camera. I'm ready for an upgrade and my next one will be able to zoom when I take videos with it. This one is great, except you can't operate the zoom in video mode

Where are you in MD, Sam? If you don't have the HRE extension, stop by my house and we'll air up your tires. I have a compressor and the extension (I have HREs on my C5).

Just PM me if you need my help.

I have a Sony DVD HandyCam. I believe it does have a firewire port but not positve. I'll check and let you know. If it does, I'll turn it over to you so you can upload the video for everyone. I would still like to get a copy of my run if I can but this way we can get the M5 and Spero's run up on the computer.

Derrick, I have your 11.550 run but the numbers on the board are kind of blurry. I will upload it anyway. I have Spero's burnout uploaded but am waiting for verification from google. Thanks for the tips Wayne. Will probably post links to both vids in the morning. I can operate your camcorder next time at the track if you want me to. If my camera had better zoom during the video's I would have some nice videos but instead all I have is some runs with blurry numbers. Your 11.550 is actually the clearest one and its still blurry.

My wife just asked me,
Wife: so what kind of competition was the track thingy today?
Me: it wasn't a competition, but you run down a 1/4 mile track to see how fast your car can cover the 1/4 mile and at the same time you learn different variables about your car
Wife: so what kind of time did you run?
Me: 12.5 was the best I can do in my M5
Wife: what did your friends with E55 do?
Me: they did anywhere from 12.6 to 11.5
Wife: so did you or any of your friends get a prize or trophy?
Me: of course not
Wife: why would you pay $100 and stand in the cold to get nothing but "I know what my car can run"
Me: just make me something to eat and get me a drink

They just don't get it.

I'm with you Alex, my wife thinks I'm a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff. They will never understand us. Spero, I have your 11.63 on video and would like to upload it for you guys but have no idea how to. I have a firewire port on my computer also. I'll work with it a little this morning and see if I can get it downloaded. Ahmad, let me know as soon as you get your's uploaded. I would love to see the vid.

Too funny, Alex. My wife just laughs about it. She actually comes out to the track and helps out when I race (sometimes). The only thing she won't do is watch when I race my motorcycle. It scares her

Sperro, I have a small vid of your burnout, give me your email address and I'll send it to you. It's only about 5 MB so it could be DL or hosted pretty easily. Awesome runs between you and Derrick BTW.

Wayne, thanks for offering to help. I'm in chevy chase area. I was thinking however to just replace those PS2s (since they're a year old) with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 tires. I'm about to place an order soon but I'm still uncertain about the tire size I should go with. I'd appreaciate it if you can give me your suggestion. My rims are 19X8.5 and 19X10.

Thanks,
Sam

Sam, I don't think you should replace the tires because they are a year old. I think I saw your tires had plenty of tread left. But then again, if you have money to burn why not

The Eagle GS, I've read great things. As for tire size, go with same size you have on the HREs now.
