Getting Headers

Finally got the Supersprint headers and full exhaust. I did a search on the E55 forum and came up with Kleemann, Evo Sport, Brabus, Carlsson and Eisemann. I pretty much decided to consider only Supersprint or Kleemann because only they offer a header and full exhaust set up for the E55 (if the other tuners do offer a header and full exhaust... poor research on my end and my bad).

I read some of the posts and wound up on the Kleemann website. It said that they do not recommend mixing various tuners products and since I already went with Carlsson's ECU and pulleys set up it came down to Supersprint.

I decided to pull the trigger on the Supersprint because I was impressed with the long tube design. I never professed to know much about modifying cars, but I think that this long tube design may result in better exhaust flow.

What do you guys think?

BenzBoi, Will post the sound clips, but someone will have to show me how.

JamE55, I will do some before and after dyno's. I want to make sure I got my $$$ worth.

Anyone know of a good place to have these headers and full exhaust installed in the Bay Area? I am willing to go as far south as Gilroy or as north as Sacramento as east as Stockton and as west Half Moon Bay.

I am dying to get these on. I have been waiting for close to 6 months and they are finally here. Heck, I may even go to Los Angeles if convinced.

Check with Topline Auto. They are Kleemann authorized and can most likely install them for you.

I like this design better than the other E55 headers I've seen because the tubes are closer to equal length, which is worth some HP. Do you know the primary tube inside diameter?

The collectors are 70mm OD and 67mm ID. The steel used is t304 stainless steel that is 1.5mm thick. I will have confirmation about the size of the primary tubing diameter for you tomorrow.

All the tubing is mandrel bent to ensure a smooth and consistent flow pattern. The resonator and mufflers are a flow through resonated design with no chambers or baffling, this ensures the best possible performance. The packing is made up of long strand rock wool and stainless steel wool that will not break down and change the sound of the exhaust over time. All of the joints are all seam welded for longevity, unlike most of the mufflers out there that are crimped and promote failure.

Are they for 210 E55 or 211 E55???

Superspring released full SL55 exhausts system:

http://www.supersprint.com/download/...SL55AMGen.html

SS has similar kit for CLS55...but for 211 E55 they say only connectiong pipe and rear mufflers (coming soon)...

It is for a W211 E55. It is as new as it gets. I was told that this is the first one from SS period. I know i may be rolling the dice on these but, SS has a good reputation and is well respected.

I am definitely going to have my ECU re-tuned. I already had Carlsson do that for me with my pulleys and exhaust. The downside of Carlsson redoing my ECU is that there is a 2 week downtime to allow shipping to Germany and back. I may take it somewhere else to redo.

I will also dyno before and after. The gains should be impressive but I will not post what I was told, I will wait to see the dyno for myself and then post.

Yes, videos and sound-clips to come. But first I need to find a place to get these installed.

Here is a little more info on the sizing: The SS headers use 42mm o.d. primary pipes each with a step up to 45mm closer to the 4-into-1 merge collector. The R. + L. main exhaust pipes are 70mm o.d.

I have gotten some inquiries on how much for the whole system. The whole system cost me $12,045.77. Shipped to my door.

Please remember I went with this set up because the gains are a reported 50+ HP and I already have the Carlsson CK55 kit.

We are not. There were FAR too many issues with BMW e46 M3 headers craking and failing at the welds and bungs. Search on Roadfly.org (e46 M3 Forum), bimmerforums or M3forums. TONS of issues, and SS would not warranty any of them - just blamed the user or the installer. Stuck a lot of our customers with big repair bills, most we ate in the shop as goodwill.

Something to think about.

You all should really read these other forums - there are a LOT of pissed off people.

Thanks
Brad

We thought so too. The M5 stuff has not had known issues to this point. Carlsson exhaust is made by Supersprint.

Thanks

M5 RUS,

The Carlsson CK55 Kit is ECU and Pulleys. The mufflers are not part of the kit.

sporters78,

I don't think Renntech offers a full exhaust, only stainless steel headers.
