We actually subscribe to Car and Driver, but I had to have this issue, so I ran out and bought it (ours has yet to arrive in the mail)!!
I must say I was surprised to see the CLS in last place, although the STS seems to be a nice car. I know there was mention made of price, and with the CLS coming in the highest I see how that could hamper overall ratings.
I think the 0-150 and 30-50, 50-70 illustration was a great one. I'm sure from a seat of pants standpoint the torque-monster CLS just "feels" stronger than the M5 (I believe the torque rating was 385 or so?).
I think both the M5 and CLS are great cars (for totally different reasons), and the STS is a pretty nifty addition (although I do not think I could personally purchase one).
